About pigeons – a true story

A month ago a couple of stupid pigeons made their nest in the akebia quinata covering my pergola. Nothing elaborate in fact, just a rudimentary platform; nothing to be proud of.

And of course what was bound to happen did happen a couple of weeks ago, one of the pair of eggs that had been laid (and sat on) fell through the twigs of the “nest”. The pigeon embryo was well-advanced. Subsequently the pigeons—disgusted?— abandoned their nest and the remaining egg. This morning I took it down, but I’m not going to sit on it. 😉

Well, together with the few mushrooms that have grown overnight on my lawn, that could make a nice mushroom omelette, if I’m not very hungry.
