The "H5P Image Choice 'papi Jo'" content adds a couple of new features to the standard H5P Image Choice content to be found on the H5P site at Image Choice.

Shuffle images display order

If this option is checked (in the Behavioural settings), the order in which the images are displayed on the opening screen is shuffled.

Legend Text/Feedback

For each image that you add as an option in this H5P Content, a new option is available, just after the Hover text field. The rationale here is that adding a Legend Text to each image provides the student/end-user with a kind of feedback, to re-inforce the impact of their correct choices.

When a Legend Text has been entered for images, it is displayed:
  • for images which have been correctly guessed (even if the maximum score has not been reached)
  • for images which have been correctly not selected (only when the maxium score has been reached.
The Legend Texts and the images Aspect ratio options

The best display of the Legend Texts is obtained when the Images Aspect ratio (in the Behavioural settings) is left on its default Automatic setting. For any other setting, the Legend Texts cannot be displayed under each image, because images are constrained within a "frame" of fixed dimensions. So the texts are displayed at and over the bottom of the images, so they need to be kept as short as possible. This is clearly demonstrated in the examples given in the "Image Choice 'papi Jo' - Examples" Interactive Book.

The Legend Text editor toolbar

This editor provides a number of useful options, including the option to include external links, choice of fonts, colors, etc.

I am of opinion that the mere addition of this Legend Text/Feedback can transform H5P Image Choice from a simple amusement into a useful learning activity.

Tips

For each image that you add as an option in this H5P Content, a tip option is available. Please note that, if you click on a tip icon to display the tip, there are two ways to dismiss the tip: if you click on the tip icon again, this will automatically select the current image. If you just want to dismiss the tip without selection the current image, you must click anywhere else, e.g. on the tip text itself, or anywhere else on the page.
