This medium-to-small shrub comes from Japan. Its vivid green leaves set off the small lacecap inflorescences, whose sepals (usually three) are pure white when they open, then gradually become red, starting from the apex. The fertile flowers at the centre are pinky white. The flowers of this plant are beautiful at all stages of maturation.
