On appelle chignon racinaire l&#8217;amalgame en spirales des racines d&#8217;une plante qui se forme durant une longue p\u00e9riode de stockage en conteneur avant transplantation en pleine terre. En g\u00e9n\u00e9ral il suffit de d\u00e9faire d\u00e9licatement les racines entrem\u00eal\u00e9es avant de proc\u00e9der \u00e0 la mise en terre, mais parfois, en pleine terre, les racines continuent \u00e0 tourner comme si elles \u00e9taient encore dans leur pot, et finalement la plante d\u00e9p\u00e9rit. C&#8217;est ce qui est arriv\u00e9 \u00e0 un <em>Carpenteria Californica<\/em> qu&#8217;il a fallu arracher. Ce pot ing\u00e9nieux est en vente dans le commerce, mais h\u00e9las il est peu utilis\u00e9 par les p\u00e9pini\u00e9ristes, peut-\u00eatre \u00e0 cause de son co\u00fbt.
